What Makes It Work
The fields — Tall grass, open sky, room to move. This is where the walking shots happen, the twirls, the moments that need space to breathe. Golden hour turns the grass amber and makes everything glow.
The dock — Quiet, still, close. Good for the slower moments — sitting close, feet in the water, low conversation. The lake gives a soft, even backdrop that doesn't compete with you.
The forest trail — Shaded, textured, a little wild. Good on bright or overcast days when open field light gets too harsh. In fall, the larches turn a deep gold that photographs like nothing else here.
The mountain backdrop — Present in nearly every direction, giving depth without overpowering the frame.
Best Season
Summer and fall both work beautifully here, for different reasons. Summer gives you deep green forest and golden fields. Fall turns the whole property warm — rust, amber, gold — especially along the trail.
Best Time of Day
Golden hour in the field is unbeatable — low light, long shadows, that glow you can't fake. On the dock, earlier or overcast light works just as well since it's more sheltered from harsh midday sun. The trails are great anytime, though you wouldn't want it to get too dark otherwise you will compromise your exposure.
Who It's For
This location has hosted everything from two-person engagement sessions to full extended-family groups of a dozen-plus — the fields and open sky give large groups room to spread out without losing intimacy.

Why I Love Shooting Here
There's a moment I keep thinking about — a couple sitting at the edge of the dock, feet in the water, not posing for anything. Just talking, low and easy, like the camera wasn't even there. The lake went still behind them. That's the whole reason I love this place — it doesn't ask people to perform. It just gives them somewhere quiet enough to actually be together.
Parking & Access
Each part of Blue Creek Bay has its own access point, so where you park depends on what look you're going for.
- The fields — a small lot right nearby, easy walk-in.
- The dock — limited parking, about 8 spots, so it's worth arriving a little early during busier seasons. However, there is the ability to park along the dirt road if there are no spots left.
- The forest & trails — several different access points scattering entry across the property, so there's rarely a squeeze.
Walking Difficulty
Easy, across the board. The ground stays fairly even throughout — fields, dock, and trail alike — so it's manageable for kids, larger groups, or anyone who'd rather not navigate steep or uneven terrain.
